Artist Biography
Anthony Sims is an American contemporary artist whose work combines elements of neo-expressionism, abstraction, street culture, digital media, and personal narrative. Emerging from the Memphis art community, Sims developed a distinctive visual language characterized by expressive brushwork, fragmented figures, symbolic characters, handwritten text, and emotionally charged compositions.
Throughout his career, Sims has exhibited artwork across the United States and internationally, participating in exhibitions in Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, and other locations. His work explores themes including identity, adversity, mental health, transformation, technology, memory, and contemporary culture.
In 2020, two paintings by Anthony Sims entered the permanent collection of the Meridian Museum of Art. His work has subsequently been featured in museum exhibitions, galleries, digital art festivals, NFT exhibitions, and international art events.

Artistic Statement
My work exists somewhere between chaos and structure.
Through painting, drawing, digital media, and experimental processes, I explore identity, emotion, memory, adversity, and transformation. The figures and symbols within my work often function as visual metaphors for internal experiences that are difficult to express through language alone.
Growing up in the American South and later working within highly technical engineering environments has shaped my perspective significantly. I am interested in the tension between human emotion and structured systems, between instinct and logic, between vulnerability and resilience.
My goal is not to create answers, but rather to create visual spaces where viewers can encounter their own questions.
